Top 10 Reasons to Update your Website

Why do I need to update my website? There’s nothing wrong with it, nothing has changed in the business so why should I update it?

Website technology has changed so much over the last two years, we use a completely different tools to create websites now that were available to us even a year ago. Search engine optimisation has become a black art and certain websites are impossible to optimise when changes happen to the Internet.

Here are our top 10 reasons for updating your website.

  1.  Google wants you to. Search engine optimisation, (which means getting your website on the front page of Google) is predicated on relevance.
  2. Google is trying to make searches more human – in the process they are trying to line people are searching for and websites that deliver. Recent Panda updates search for sites with more human content.
  3. Older websites are not responsive, the technology didn’t exist to make them so, your website needs to work on a number of mobile devices, phones and tablets.
  4. Do you have features that you no longer have all products that are no longer sold. Nothing is worse than promoting something that you don’t do any more.
  5. Did you make your website web 2.0 compatible? That was six years ago and web standards have improved.
  6. Do you have a news page and do you regularly update it with news from your business? Google says this is relevant to the ranking of your business.
  7. Do you have an active backlink campaign to your current website? This can be had for older websites
  8. Are you integrated with social media? Do you have links to your Facebook and Twitter accounts or LinkedIn or Google plus? Some of the sites do not have plug-ins are needed to link to the social media organisations.
  9. An up-to-date fresh website tells your customer that you are open for business and that you are up to date your thinking and your product range.
  10. Is the copyright on the bottom of your website any other than 2015? If so your website showing its age.

A Web refresh is not as expensive as you might think and does not cost as much as a brand-new website the content has already been completed it just needs to be rearranged into new menus and with a fresh new look.
